- is open to discovering that dating is not just about finding and "catching" a mate, but fundamentally about discovering your true self, creating the life you want, and developing and refining yourself to be your best, with or without a man
- knows that being single, while sometimes frustrating, is not "less than" being part of a couple, and is WAY better than being in a bad (or even a mediocre) relationship
- understands that a good story is sometimes just as good in the long run as a good date
A Dating Queen goes on dates with the following goals:
- to HAVE FUN
- to assess the person across the table
- to learn about herself
A Dating Queen is NOT:
- out to find a sugar daddy or rich husband to take care of her
- looking for a man to complete her
- a mere collector of notches on her bedpost
- remotely interested in dating a man who's married or otherwise committed in a relationship

WHO is The Dating Queen?
Writer and Renaissance woman Melissa Dinwiddie has pursued careers in a variety of creative fields, including dance, calligraphy/visual art, music and yoga. Her artworks are in private collections around the globe, she has received invitations to teach calligraphy for groups across the US, she sings jazz and writes songs about the comedic side of dating, she's taught yoga and voice, and (last but not least) she currently works as a freelance copywriter, helping businesses communicate more effectively with their marketing materials.
Melissa earned her Dating Queen crown after dating 57 men in a 2 1/2 year period. With a divorce and several relationships behind her, she took it on as a personal mission to find a mate worthy of her extraordinary fantabulousness, and discovered in the process that she had much to learn about men, dating, relationships, and most of all, herself. Instead of shying away from self-inquiry, she dove in head-first, and discovered that the very process of dating, when approached with conscious awareness, can be a powerful tool for self-development.
A natural teacher, Melissa often can't restrain herself from sharing what she's learned. Rather than continue to subject fellow bus passengers and grocery shoppers to her pearls of dating wisdom, she decided to take her show on the road – or, rather, online – where it can be read, or ignored, at will. Her goal is to create a community of savvy single women, helping each other and finding themselves while looking for love.
